So I saw the Dark Knight last night and I was amazed.  The movie was about 2 and a half hours of action and suspence.  Its one of those long movies that you keep expecting to end, but you’re glad that it doesn’t.

Heath Ledger I have to admit did an outstanding job playing the Joker.  When I first heard he was playing him I had my doubts.  After I heard he died I was like oh, thats sad.  But now after seeing him steal the show as the Joker, I totally wish he was still alive!  Hmmm, I’m not a bad person am I?

The movie definitely went beyond Batman Begins which in my opinion is a tough act to follow, as that movie is up there as one of my favorites.  Dark Knight is just one of those awesome movies that never loses you’re attention, even someone as ADD as me.  It is just full of twists and turns that keep you interested for the entire 2+ hours.

All in all the movie was amazing, the action was great and there was even a bit of comic relief thanks to the Joker.  I recomend anyone to go see this movie, maybe not small children though, it is pretty violent.  On the other hand, screw it, teach’ em early.

That is it for now, maybe I’ll add more later, or maybe not.

Review: 10,000 B.C.

March 30, 2008

Well this is not exactly the best start to my movie reviews section of this blog.  Don’t get me wrong, 10,000 B.C. was not a bad movie like alot of the critics are saying, but it wasn’t all that inspiring either.

It was directed by Roland Emmerich, the same guy who did Independence Day The Day After Tomorrow and a favorite of mine, The Patriot.  Sadly this is something of a step down.  10,000 B.C. some how feels like it should have been made 10 or 15 years ago.  I dunno,  I know I probably would have liked it alot when I was a kid.  It’s not really a bad movie to see with a group of people either; if anything it’s entertaining.  The writers seemed to have sort of an adolescent point of view on pre-history.

So we have a tribe who lives in the cold and hunts mammoths, slavers come on horseback and kidnap our protagonist’s girlfriend.  So him and his friends follow them, and apparently a tropical jungle is a few days walk from the frozen peaks of wherever these guys are suppose to live(the Alps?) to a tropical jungle and then to the desert (the sahara?) where they make friends with some other tribes who decide to help them, then to Egypt to stop the pyramids from being built (by whoolie mammoths).  And they of course free the slaves and save his girlfriend.  So thats the movie in a nutshell.  A bit corny with all the setting changes every other scene.  It goes snow, jungle, desert, Egypt, etc.  It just seemed a bit too unbelievable to travel to so many different climates in such a short amount of time.  And then there were the mammoths being used as beasts of burden to help build the pyramids.  I won’t even bother touching on this.

The special effects were good.  Nothing really memorable, just your basic CG extinct animals.  Nothing to really ooooh and aaaaah over.  The same goes for the score, I don’t know who did the music for the movie but I’m not going to bother checking, so there ya go.  The acting was not bad, maybe a bit bland but more than likely due to the script which seemed devoid of any flavor or originality.  Like everything else in this movie, it was good enough, but nothing special.

To me this movie is like I said before, “good enough, but nothing special.”   That’s all I really needed to write for this review.  I’m not going to give it any thumbs up or thumbs down, or stars or boxes of popcorn.  I’m just going to leave it at that.

Well here is the beginning at my attempt at talking about movies I like or even don’t like…   I think I’ll plan to write about any new movie I see, and if I reinstate my Netflix account it will get even more interesting. Wait, nevermind that,  screw just writing about brand new movies. I’m gonna voice my opinion on any movie I come across or have come across in the past that I take a fancy too.  Take that world.  Here is the bad news.  The last movie I saw that is still fresh in my head, is 10,000 B.C. so it looks like that’s what I’ll be writing my first review on.  Well, it’s not exactly bad news.  Let’s say its “mediocre news”.
